Hi, I'm Natalie
When I was a little girl I always wanted to be a teacher. At high school I discovered that I had a passion for art, craft and design so logically, I thought it would be best if I taught in one of those areas. After a gruelling final art project that found me solving problems, manipulating barbed wire by hand and sporting a few flesh wounds it was decided that I would study art - however being ever practical I signed up for a double degree in visual arts as well as education.
At the bitter end of my degree, I felt that I would be a poor kind of teacher at 21 and decided that I would do any of my future students a disservice by showing up still damp behind the ears. Much to my parents' chagrin, I then set off to learn about the ways of the world by submerging myself in music, art and eventually graphic design.
Why I am awesome
I am hard working, a team player, adaptable, reliable, a problem solver, bubbly, full of initiative, a deadline beater, resourceful, fun, a people person, passionate, responsive to constructive criticism, ambitious, a great time manager and an excellent communicator.
Are you experienced?
In 2004 I took the plunge into the heady world of in-house design, and in the last four years I've found myself working for two consecutive marketing departments within the building industry. I absorbed a lot about marketing, copy writing, PR, event planning - even parts of the BCA (Building Code of Australia)! I also learnt a lot about design, especially from my first manager who would sit down with me and tell me about widows and orphans, and the difference between the Pantone Matching System and CMYK.
This year I decided to freelance, in order to maintain my sanity while I was planning my wedding. The glass slippers are now off and I'm ready to dive back in. Freelance, contract, part or full time - let me at it!
Key competencies
Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, dreamweaver & Version Cue.
Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
Operating systems: Macintosh OS X & Windows XP.
I also have a working knowledge of Flash, HTML & CSS.
To infinity, and beyond!
My ultimate goal is to be in a creative director role brewing up concepts all day. Even if I won a million dollars I'd still feel the need to push colours, lines and shapes around all day!
